Christ is Risen Indeed!!

After the Sabbath, as the first light of the new week dawned, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to keep vigil at the tomb. Suddenly the earth reeled and rocked under their feet as God's angel came down from heaven, came right up to where they were standing. He rolled back the stone and then sat on it. Shafts of lightning blazed from him. His garments shimmered snow-white. The guards at the tomb were scared to death. They were so frightened, they couldn't move.

The angel spoke to the women: "There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed.
Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples, 'He is risen from the dead. He is going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.' That's the message."

The women, deep in wonder and full of joy, lost no time in leaving the tomb. They ran to tell the disciples. Then Jesus met them, stopping them in their tracks. "Good morning!" he said. They fell to their knees, embraced his feet, and worshiped him. Jesus said, "You're holding on to me for dear life! Don't be frightened like that. Go tell my brothers that they are to go to Galilee, andthat I'll meet them there."

It's Monday....

Here we are, at the start of a new week.  A busy one, too.  Lots going on.

Tonight I am leading worship at my Bible study.  I am excited since I am doing a little something different.  A mini Good Friday service, if you will.  Should be interesting...  First time doing something like this, but I believe it is totally from God.  I will continue to pray all day so that God will be at the center no matter what.

Also, starting to tutor on Wednesday.  My Mom and I are team tutoring.  It should be good.

Thursday night, my sister and I are going to see Frank Warren the PostSecret guy.  I am so excited.  He is having a book signing afterwards that I think we will try and stay for.  I mean, it's Frank.  I feel like I know him, even though I don't...not really anyway.  All of the proceeds go to the Suicide Prevention Line, so it is for a good cause.  Anyway, check the website (www.postsecret.com) if you have no idea what I am talking about.

Friday I am off to horseback riding camp for the night.  We are back Saturday night at 9 or so.  I am excited because I don't get to ride horses very often.  Jonathan is allergic to them, which means I will have to throw all my clothes in the wash as SOON as I get home.  Then head straight into the shower.  Do not pass go.  Do not collect $200...

Anyway, I am very excited about this week, but I am also getting tired just thinking about it!!  Ah well, God will give me strength!  Here is one of the awesome songs I am doing tonight!!  Enjoy!

Friday Fill-in: Party Animals

Tomorrow is Miss Ems 4th birthday party.  She is really excited.  I hope everything goes alright.  She wanted an Animal birthday, so that is what we are going with!  Should be awesome.

Since I am busy cleaning, baking and prepping for 23 people (adults and kids) to descend on our modest abode, I leave you with a Friday Fill-in today!!

1. Bring your favorite mug and we can do coffee together.  Wouldn't that be fun?  With all my friends, internet and in person?  It would be fun to meet y'all.

2. Batteries are included.  Ever.  In toys.  Blah.

3. This cold weather is exactly what is making me go a little bit wonky.  I long for sun, warmth and flowers, butterflies, picnics, bbqs, bike rides, park playdates....

4. Well, you see, I am tired.  It is still early in the morning and my coffee hasn't kicked in yet.  That should explain everything!

5. I hope Spring comes soon!

6. But what if it never stops being winter?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to decorating a cake for Emma's party with my Mom (I love cake decorating!), tomorrow my plans include throwing a birthday party for Miss Ems and then going rollerskating with my Ranger group (Please pray I don't break anything!) and Sunday, I want to take care of my blisters (I know there will be some from rollerskating), rest and relax and then watch The Amazing Race!

Happy Thinking Day!!

Lady Olave Baden-Powell's Last Message

Dear Guides, Scouts, Cubs and Brownies and all their leaders and friends,

I shall have left this world when you receive this message, which I leave to express my thanks for all the kindnesses and the affection shown to me, and to say how greatly I have rejoiced over the way in which you have carried out your share in the work of the Movement that my beloved husband invented, for the advancement of boys and girls of all countries years ago.

I have firm belief in Almighty God and in the life in the world to come, when he and I will be reunited, and together we shall watch over you who have been enrolled as members of this world family, and go on caring for your progress and your well being.

I trust that you will continue fully to use the system of work and play that our Movement provides, keeping up the fun and the friendships made at your meetings and in camps, abiding by the Promise and upholding the Laws that you undertook to live by when you joined up.

In that way you will not only advance yourself in body, mind and spirit, but you will affect those around you, in doing what is honourable and right and wise, and in giving out kindness of thought and action, thus striving against all ills and helping to make the world a happier and a better place in which to live.

I trust you will be successful in all your tasks, and may God be with you all in the coming years.

Ramblings on a Friday

God's hand Pictures, Images and Photos

Wanted to write something today.  No idea what.  Feeling very tired this morning.  It's gonna be a busy weekend, too!  Starting with a girl's night out tonight to make cards.  I LOVE making cards.  The thought of doing it uninterrupted (except for the girl talk, of course) sounds heavenly.

Jonathan is on worship team all weekend.  While I fully support him in this, and pray for him constantly while he is on team, I still am stuck alone with the kids for the majority of the weekend.  It turns out to be a long weekend...God is gracious, though.  The kids and I usually find something to occupy our time together, so I shouldn't complain too much.  They are growing up so fast, too!  Emma will be 4 in a few weeks and Aidan will be 7!!!  No more little boy...just all boy.  YIKES!

In other news, I will be taking 6 girls (15-17yrs old) to Paris in 2012 - My Ranger group.  (Girl Guides)  We had our parent meeting last night.  The three that showed up are signed up and ready to fundraise.  Hubby is really excited at the prospect of me leaving for 10 days.  Of course my Mom will be around this time, so that should go better.  He can at least take breaks.  It's good for him, too!  I think they all really had fun last time, though they wouldn't admit it, lest I do it again!!

I will leave you with a song today.  I recently purchased the new Chris Tomlin CD.  I love his stuff.  Anyway, here's one of my favorites off this album.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

2011: A Look Ahead

Well, the New Year is almost upon us.  Time for change; new things, ect.  Of course, as we are all well aware, days continue on as they did before the striking of the clock at midnight on the 31st of December.  But, we still long for some sort of change to happen...or do we?

Sorry to be so deep this morning.  Must be the snow falling outside my window, or the fact that I am writing on my hubby's work laptop.  Either way, I am feeling like a writing machine today.  I will most likely blog on my other site today, too (http://walkslight.blogspot.com/) , so be sure to check that out.

Anyway, this year will prove to be an interesting one.  We are heading to Disneyland at the end of January as a family for a week.  That should prove to be an adventure.  The kids are excited.  I am, too!  I think we will have a good time.

Also, my sister is moving in July to Florida to work at Walt Disney World for a year.  She will be working at Epcot in the Canadian pavillion in foods and services.  Her blog of this adventure is here: http://disneyjen.blogspot.com/. This means she is quitting her job at WestJet.  This means less trips for us, but I think this will be a great thing for her.  A great adventure and a good growth experience.

I am going to be on the job search again this coming year.  So that should be something.  I am not sure what I will end up doing, but I am trusting that God has something in store for me.  He really has been helping me to understand what He wants of me and giving me a desire to enter back into teaching of some sort.  I feel it is time to begin again.

So as this year closes out and a new one begins, what do you think God has in store for you?  Will you listen to His call?  What changes do you see in the future?

Whatever your answers, may you all have a wonderful New Year's Eve (whatever you do) and New Year's Day!!

Fall Into Reading 2010

I have been looking for a good reading challenge.  Something not too hard to do, but something I could really do, just for me.  I am going to be doing a lot of reading/knitting this fall, with Emma in Preschool.  She is going across the city, so I probably will just stay over in that area, preferrably at Starbucks or the library.

This reading challenge is great sinc you only have to do the books you put on the list for yourself.  It only goes from September 22nd-December 20th, which I think I can do.  I already am coming up with a list of books to read in my head.  I will post these on the 22nd when the challenge starts.  Until then, I better finish reading the book I am reading right now, so I can start fresh.

Feel free to join me in this challenge.  I know that Kim is over at Misplaced Midwesterner.  The rest of you may join in, too!!  Just click the graphic above to find out more info!!  Let's fall into reading together!!

Open for Business

Business 2 Blogger

Dearest followers and readers!  I have been contemplating how to change up my blog a bit.  Tired of the same ol' same ol'.  Also, a bit of extra cash would be good and fun products to try would also be great.

I have been perusing some of my fellow bloggers to see what they are doing.  I don't really want a whole ton of ads on my blog.  You didn't come here to see more advertising.  I hate when people have that on their blogs.

Instead the above program offers me the opportunity to review products/services and then comment on them on my blog.  There are a few other programs like this out there.  A few that deal with book reviews.   I may look into those as well.  For now I will just stick with this one.  I hope you don't mind me reviewing a few products or whatever.  Hopefully you will get some good tips, too!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, in case you came here one day and saw an entry about a product or something and were like..."What???!!!???"

I will continue with my regular entries, videos, songs, etc.   Updates on the kids.   I now have a video camera for the computer, so this could pose some really great new blog entries!  I am really excited about that!

Thank-you to those of you who regularly follow me, read my blogs and comment.  You are awesome!!  I love blogging because of you and your feedback.  Keep it up!!

Now for some lunch....

Back from Camp

On Maid of the Mist!!  Was SOOO cool!!

I am back!  Had a great time.  Am still tired and camp ended on Saturday.  They say it takes about a week to recover.  I am not there yet, I guess.

I will post some more pictures here in the coming days.  Lots of stories to tell, but the one that I really want to tell is about our GREAT group of girls.  Despite all of the hardships, the programming problems, the long walks to the island and the many other organizational problems, the girls hardly every complained.  They trucked on, doing their thing, having a great time.  I am proud of them all.  They were great.

2 More Sleeps!!

The Mouse
Fashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

Only two more till I leave for Disneyland.  Really getting excited now.  Today I will try and finish up most of my packing except for toiletries and my purse I am taking.  Tomorrow I am hanging out with my Mom and then I will sleep over at my parents' house so that I don't need a cab or Jonathan to drive me at 7 in the morning.  It will be a great time!!

Slept in this morning by accident.  It was 7am by the time I got up.  That only left us 1/2hr to get ready and walk to school (Jonathan is not driving for awhile because there is so much construction going on)!  Anyway, I decided to just let everyone have a day off.  I am not in the mood to fight with everyone.  So, Aidan is having an extra day off.

Made the above at Polyvore.com which is a great site where you can make outfits, interior decorate or make pictures.  I am having a lot of fun with it (a creative outlet).

I will try to be on tomorrow with one more post before I leave!!

On Being a Mom and Having a Mom

I love being a Mom.  I have wanted to be one since I was a kid.  I always wanted to stay home with my kids, too when they were young.  I am able to do this, too.  I find it such a blessing that I am able to spend so much time with them and nurturing them, teaching them and helping them to grow into wonderful people.

Of course the only way that I was able to be such a great Mom is because I had one.  My Mom was able to stay home with both my sister and I until Jenny was in Kindergarten.  Then she decided she could go back to work, only if she could do a job where she was done when we were done.  She started working for the school board and has done so ever since.

She was always involved in what we were doing, whether it be Sunday School, Girl Guides, helping out with Youth, volunteering so I could go to Europe with my Junior High band...She was just always there.

Our house was always the hang out spot for all my friends, too.  I remember Grad in Grade 12.  My parents let Janet drive their van for the after grad parties.  Then we all crashed at my house.  I hope that our house becomes the hang out place for our kids.  I figure that will make it easier for me to know what they are doing.  Plus, I really want to be an example of Christ to my kids' friends, welcoming them into our home.

My Mom has become one of my best friends.  She is so supportive and a good person to turn to for advice and if you need to vent.  I also know that she has a very close relationship with God and prays a lot.  I am so glad to be her daughter.  Thanks, Mom for everything.

An Update on Life

Sorry I haven't blogged for awhile again.  It has been busy around here.  And I took a bit of a break from blogging.  It has been nice.

The above is called Blog-itis.  It is some of the words I have used in my blog into a Wordle.  Wordles are so fun to make.  I needed something fun to do today.  It is snowing out, blowing snow, cold...Kept Aidan home today, since I did not want to drive Jonathan to work or walk in this weather.  Not worth it for Kindergarten.  So we will do some crafts and play together.

Today is also the first day I do not have to watch Maggie.  After much conflict between the two girls, I decided it was time to give Emma a break.  This is her house and she was really starting to have issues with Maggie.  I will miss Magatron (Magster - that's what Aidan calls her), but I am sure we will see her lots.

Also my friend Melissa's husband went into the hospital last night.  Had another seizure at work.  He had one a couple of months ago.  He just recently went back to work a week ago.  Then he had another one last night.  Haven't heard anything yet.  Will let you know when I do.  Any prayers would be appreciated since they could not find any reason for the seizure last time.  His name is Andy.

Well, Aidan is bugging me to have a turn on the computer.  Hopefully this will keep him occupied for awhile.  Have a nice day doing whatever you are doing.

My Last Week

I can't believe it has been a week since I blogged last.  Ooopss!!  Sometimes real life gets in the way.  Not that I don't love sharing with y'all, but sometimes other things pop up.  I have been trying to pay better attention to the girls' interactions, as they have some issues interacting.  (Maggie is still learning how to interact with Emma without pushing, hitting, etc., while Emma tries to defend herself with the same techniques!)  It has been tough for Janet and myself.  We are working it out and the naught stool really seems to work well.

Needless to say, by the time the day is over I am exhausted.  Tired.  Worn out.

I have also been pondering a change.  A change for the coming year.  Something different.  I am wondering about doing something more related to teaching...or something like that.  Part-time.  Emma starts Preschool next year (two days a week).  Not that I can work while she is there, but the urge to do something is there, which is amazing.

Also, Disneyland is fast approaching.  It is going to be so much fun.  I can hardly wait.  I am so in need of a break.  Mentally, emotionally...I feel like my brain is about to explode most days.  Perhaps it really is time for a bit of a change...

Anyway, that has been my life this past week or so.  My ponderings, wonderings and the daily grind.

Oh...and did I mention that they are building a garage in our backyard??

Tuesday Tunes 54: Happy Birthday, Emma!!

Yes, today Emma, my baby, turns 3.  We no longer have any babies in this house.  Only kids.  Crazy, but good.  We have entered a new stage of our family life.  It is nice.  She keeps saying that she is growing bigger and bigger.  I guess she is right.  Happy Birthday, Miss Ems!!  Love you, baby girl.

I am still fighting off a cold.  feels like my nose and throat are dry all the time.  Yuck.  Anyway, I will conquer it.  Perhaps not until after this weekend (and Emma's birthday party) are over.

Lately, hubby and I have been listening to a lot of 80s music.  You know, reliving our childhood.  Our latest 80s fix is Don Henly (aka drummer for The Eagles). Anyway, his stuff is so timeless.  I love it.  Anyway, here is one of my favorites.  It always takes me back to elementary school and listening to the radio in the car.  Some songs just do that.  Hope this takes you all back, too!!

A New Blogging Journey

I am starting a new blog inspired by my walks to and from Aidan's school: Walking in the Light. I will take pictures, share stories and insights. Hopefully you will go over and check it out every once and a while. I will still continue to blog here, too. But I am hoping to really share some of God on the other blog. So much becomes clearer when I am walking and I need to share it.

P.S. I have finally found the background that I really love. Hope you like it, too!! (I am lovin' the 3 column thing!!)

An Update

Sorry I haven't been around all week.  I fell and hurt my knee at the staff retreat this past weekend (more to come on the retreat in another post!).  I have been trying to stay off it and have been icing it when I normally would be blogging.  It is doing better, but I know I will need to ice it after walking to pick-up Aidan today.

Tomorrow I am off to Girl Guide camp.  I am taking Emma with us.  We are in a building and are taking the Sparks and the Brownies.  It is a princess camp and it should be fantastic.  I think we will all have a great time.  Daddy and Aidan are going to have a guys weekend.  I think they will both enjoy that, too!

Anyway, I have lots of things to do before then, so I just thought I would update you and let you know I am still allive.  I am going to change my blog again.  This time I think I will pick something that I can leave for awhile.  So, if you come back and it is changed, you know why.
