Friday Fill-in: H1N1 Strikes Too Close To Home

It is an unsettling morning around here. My sister had a friend who came down with H1N1 on Monday. He was hospitalized and went into a coma. He passed away yesterday morning. He was only 23. Jenny had just gone with him (and some of his friends) to P.E.I. It is one thing when you hear about "other" people dying from this thing, but to hear of it from someone so close. I think that is the scary part.

We are supposed to go to a Fall Festival at WestJet today. We'll see if she is up to it or not. Poor girl! I feel so bad.

In any case, I am keeping Aidan home one more day. He is on the mend, but I would rather keep him home until he is 100% (or at least closer to it than he is now). They are only doing some fun Halloween stuff in class today. Plus, I let him go to the Girl Guide Halloween Party last night. (I had promised him for weeks now!) Anyway, we were out late. Better to let everyone sleep in, especially since I do not have Maggie today!

I am wondering if people will not be letting their kids go out trick-or-treating because of the outbreak of H1N1....I am wondering a lot of things, like should we all get the shot?? I am thinking yes, especially after Jenny's friend. I think we should all get it, even Jonathan who hates getting any shots. But since we are around the lungless wonder (aka my Dad) alot, we should all do our part to keep him healthy. He is at risk because of his lung shortage!!

Speaking of which, he is going to Toronto next week for his 6 month check-up. He already saw the cancer dude here, who said he was doing just great. So, we don't expect too much. But, keep him in your prayers, all the same.

Now, on to something a bit lighter than the above. (What a downer I am...Aren't you glad you stopped by??)

ffi
1. It was a dark and stormy night, but I was not worried since I was nice and warm with a book, blanket and cup of warm hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate and have finally started drinking some more since it is fall. I also love hot apple cider. I am currently out, though. Need to put it on the grocery list.

2. Someone didn't want the books they got for Christmas so I offered to take the books myself. I love books. I just wish I had more places for them to rest, instead of in boxes (about 20 to be exact) in the basement.

3. Rushing out, I realized I did not have a diaper for Emma and hoped she wouldn't poop. At least that is what I thought last night while driving away from the house to the Halloween party. Sometimes it is so crazy to get from one place to the next.

4. Shhh...I think I heard a howl!... No that was just Emma saying "Mama, mama, mama, I wanna get up!"

5. Shhhh... Ahhh, silence. No little ones right now. All are still in bed. Lovely!!

6. Please give me something good to eat! I haven't had breakfast yet this morning. My stomach is starting to rumble.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing with the hubby and kiddos (perhaps watching some Boomtown (season one) which I found in a clearance bin at the SuperStore), tomorrow my plans include shopping for a stroller and Trick-or- Treating with the kids at Granny and Grandpa's (Jonathan is on worship team) and Sunday, I want to take my parents to the airport (and have breaky with them), grocery shop, and have my sister join us for supper!

Sorry...Again!!

I have been meaning to blog for a few days now, but look, almost 3 days are gone since my last posting. I am not doing so good on the blogging thing lately.
Maggie has been taking up all my time today. She is not quite herself today and is getting into everything. Aidan is home sick today, as he was on Monday. It is just a cold. I will watch to make sure it does not get worse. Supposedly there is a 10% absenteeism at most Calgary schools right now. H1N1 has hospitalized some 200 people in our region. People are being extra cautious right now. I always just keep a sick kid home!!

Line-ups to get the vaccine are 3+hours long. I was thinking about getting my kids and I one, but I am not going to make them stand in line for that long. Temper-tantrums would ensue. Perhaps in a week or so when everyone is less anxious.

Other than that, life marches on. Seems like I am doing a steady run most days...On a treadmill...With no emergency stop button. (Sigh!) Why do I do this again? Sometimes I need reminders....

Built from clay and breath of God
This is who you are
Made to house eternal love
This is who you are
Matter and spirit combined
This is who you are
Temple for the Lord Most High
This is who you are

Echo of creation’s song
This is who you are
Remnant of the Chosen Ones
This is who you are
Ember of a holy fire
This is who you are
Object of the King’s desire
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are
Heaven sings this song to you…
This is who you are

Little lamb who wanders off
This is who you are
One the Shepherd won’t leave lost
This is who you are
Rescued by His sacrifice
This is who you are
Now the hands and feet of Christ
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are…

Hear the Father call your name
Shine with His eternal flame
Bear His image in your soul
This is who you are
Listen ‘til you finally know
This is who you are
