Even though I have decended into the valley, the shadow of the mountain still covers me.

Friday Fill-In: Rally Day This Week and A Mouse Next

It is Friday...finally. Some weeks it doesn't really matter, but this week it really does. It hasn't been a particularly brutal week or anything. I think I am just excited about Disneyland next weekend. It has been making the week drag by. Now that I am at the weekend, it seems like it should go by pretty quickly.
Tomorrow is Rally Day for Girl Guides across the country. We are celebrating our 100 years!! We are all meeting at the same time (poor girls on the East coast have to start meeting at 5:30am). This is one of those times when it pays to be out West!! :-) There will be live camera feeds to many of the major centers, a Flash Mob Dance, activities, a giant campfire and tons of fun. It should be a fun albeit long day. So, if you see a whole bunch of girls in uniform with matching backpacks, that's us!!
And yes, next week is my trip to Disneyland!! I cannot wait. We are going to have supper on Saturday night at the Blue Bayou (the restaurant that is right in Pirates of the Carribean). You can watch the boats go past. It is pretty expensive, but we usually try to do a nice meal for one night. And who cares if the food is good or not! You get to sit and watch people go by while IN Pirates of the Carribean - which is my favorite ride!! The rest of the days we will be running around, trying to fit it all in in 2 days and a night. Ahhh...girls' trips!!

1. I just had some mini carrot muffins for breakfast. They were good, but I may need a snack.
2. I can't believe what day it is. Finally it is the weekend. Going out on a date tonight with the hubby. Should be fun.
3. The third sentence on the 7th page of the book I'm reading: "Calpurnia always won, mainly because Atticus always took her side." I am reading To Kill A Mockingbird because I never read it in school. I know!! How is that possible? Jonathan laughs at me because I am reading this book for fun! So far so good.
4. A nice cup of joe tickles my fancy.
5. I was walking in Army and Navy last night and realized how much I love bargain stores. Then I realized that I am exactly like my father....The HORROR! ;-)
6. The Office makes me laugh! I love that show. We have been watching the boxed set. We are currently on Season Five. Then what? I guess we'll have to buy Season six. Anyway, we were watching it the other night and I laughed so hard I literally spit all over myself. While this was not attractive, it still is amazing how funny that show is sometimes.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going out on a date and enjoying some alone time, tomorrow my plans include spending all day downtown with 2000 other girls at Rally Day and Sunday, I want to make muffins, go to small group, and then have a nice time with the family for supper!

Tuesday Tunes 59: Fan Video #2 - Buttercup and Wesley
This week I chose one of my all time favorite movies: The Princess Bride. I could watch this movie over and over without any problems. I love it tons. But who doesn't? (And hubby looks like Carey Elwes...) Anyway, I really like this song with this couple. Enjoy!!

On Being a Mom and Having a Mom
I love being a Mom. I have wanted to be one since I was a kid. I always wanted to stay home with my kids, too when they were young. I am able to do this, too. I find it such a blessing that I am able to spend so much time with them and nurturing them, teaching them and helping them to grow into wonderful people.
Of course the only way that I was able to be such a great Mom is because I had one. My Mom was able to stay home with both my sister and I until Jenny was in Kindergarten. Then she decided she could go back to work, only if she could do a job where she was done when we were done. She started working for the school board and has done so ever since.
She was always involved in what we were doing, whether it be Sunday School, Girl Guides, helping out with Youth, volunteering so I could go to Europe with my Junior High band...She was just always there.
Our house was always the hang out spot for all my friends, too. I remember Grad in Grade 12. My parents let Janet drive their van for the after grad parties. Then we all crashed at my house. I hope that our house becomes the hang out place for our kids. I figure that will make it easier for me to know what they are doing. Plus, I really want to be an example of Christ to my kids' friends, welcoming them into our home.
My Mom has become one of my best friends. She is so supportive and a good person to turn to for advice and if you need to vent. I also know that she has a very close relationship with God and prays a lot. I am so glad to be her daughter. Thanks, Mom for everything.
