Saturday Blogthingy: Hanging At Home

Slept in this morning. Felt great to just be at home today. Not have to go anywhere and do anything. Tonight I am working in Promiseland. I will rest up until then.

Here's a fun Blogthingy for your Saturday perusal!! Enjoy!!

Relaxation Feels Like Home to You

You believe that your home should be your sanctuary. Life is stressful enough in the outside world.

You take it easy when you're at home. It's the place where you feel like you can truly be yourself.

You are the type of person who has deep hobbies and interests. You treasure your alone time.

You could spend all day at home if you had to. You always can find plenty to do around the house.

Saturday Blogthingy: Books and Road Trips

Well, it has been decided, since last blogging, that hubby and I are going away (childless) for a few days in August.  We are doing a road trip of the Kootenays in B.C.  I am very excited.  Hubby has even said he will sleep in a tent, mostly because we are doing this on a limited budget.  So, we have been excitedly planning and such.  I grew up going to BC for two weeks during the summer.  My Granny lived in Vernon, so we would make a trip of it, spending a week with her and a week touring around.  I can't wait to show Jonathan some of the things that I love about BC.

Needless to say, I stopped off at AMA yesterday for some books, maps, etc.  While there, I also picked up some books for my sister, who is going to North Carolina for a couple weeks in Septemeber.  (Willmington to be exact!)  She loves Nicholas Sparks books, as well as the art that is down there.  I am glad for her.  I think she will have a great time.

By the time we walked out of the AMA our hands were loaded with books, maps, etc.  I LOVE the AMA for that reason.  So much stuff!!

Since I am on this book theme, I thought a little bit of a quiz about books would be good.  So, here's one that fits me to a tea.  I am totally Old Fashioned.  No question about that.  Be sure to post your answers!!  Can't wait to see them!!

You Are Old Fashioned

You think that the best things come from the past. You love anything vintage or retro.

You are a generous and compassionate person. You are as responsible and helpful as you can be.

Art excites you. You try to bring it into your everyday life as much as possible.

You're going through a phase where nothing seems particularly interesting to you.

Saturday Blogthingy: 2 Weeks till Disneyland

Two weeks till Disneyland.  I can hardly wait.  Hubby is being so nice and letting me escape for our 2nd Annual girls weekend.  It should be a great time.  My Mom's best friend, Nancy, is coming along too!  She absolutely loves Disneyland.  I bet she is even more excited than I am!!

My FAVORITE ride is Pirates of the Carribean.  I remember when we went as a family when I was 15.  We went on that ride about 10 times.  It is awesome.  The Haunted Mansion is good, too.  Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Space Mountain...Ahhh it will be great.

My sister is dragging me on Tower of Terror.  I do not like dropping down, so this should be fun!!  I will do it, though, just for her.  She told me I would like it.

We are also going to stop at a Target store, something we didn't do when we went to San Diego last year.  I am going to buy some strong American Aleve and anything else I may decide upon.  I am totally excited...can you tell??

I tried to find a suitable Saturday Blog Thingy...but it was hard.  So, here is the best I could do. About travelling, not Disneyland.

Your Travel Personality Is: The Adventurer

For you, travel is how you learn about the world. And you like to learn the stuff that's not in guidebooks.

You truly have wanderlust. When you're not traveling, you're dreaming about where you'll go next.

And your travels are truly legendary - they leave you with stories you'll be telling for the rest of your life!

Saturday Blogthingy: Structur to the Max!!

This is totally true. I am the planner!! I love to be organized. There is nothing like organization and organizing. I would do it all day every day.

Yes, I love schedules, too!! I don't deviate much from the schedule. (Except on holidays!!) I like being predictable, the same, unchanging. I think that is why Jonathan and I get along so well. He also likes to be predictable... Like 2 peas and a pod, we are!!

You Need Structure in Your Life

You take comfort in your routine, and any deviation from it makes you feel quite nervous.

You like things to be structured and decided. You want to know what's going to happen.

The unknown makes you very nervous. If you know something is going to happen, at least you can prepare for it.

You like to have a plan A, a plan B, and if possible, plans C and D. Even if you can't plan for everything, you try!

Saturday Blogthingy: It is soooo hot...

Glitter Glue
We are finally getting our summer here. It was 31 degrees Celcius yesterday. So hot that I turned on the fan. This is only the second time that I have had to use the fan this season. Sad, but true!! I do not like it when it is that hot. I would rather have it in the high teens to low twenties. My Dad (who doesn't put shorts on until it is 20) loved it yesterday...

Well, it has taken me all weekend to recover from Vacation Bible School. It was a great time. We had so much fun and the kids did, too. This was the first time that we ever received a Thank-you present. (Kernels Popcorn) That was a nice surprise!

Today Jonathan is playing drums at a different church and then I am going grocery shopping and picking up my sister. My parents are in Rosebud at the Dinner Theater with their Love Circle (small group of married couples). So, I thought we could bring Jenny over here to hang out with us. May even haul out the pool.

I only have Maggie 3 days this week. This upcoming weekend my parents and I are taking the kids camping to Camp Jubilee. (Girl Guide camp that we go to in Cochrane) We rented one of their small cabins (sleeps 6) and Aidan and Granny are going to sleep outside in a tent on Saturday night. Aidan is really looking forward to it. Emma...well she has no idea! I am looking forward to it, too, as I LOVE camping. Jonathan does not. He is looking forward to playing Poker and watching what he wants to watch on TV. Bachelorhood again!

Since we are finally having some summer out here I thought a summer themed blog thingy would be appropriate. I am sensitive, actually, although I hardly let people see it. Only those that know me pretty well. I can't take criticism very well, that's for sure. And I am a people pleaser, not extremely so, but I do want people to like me and am hurt and confused when they don't. So perhaps there is some truth to this, after all...

You Are a Snow Cone

You are lighthearted, playful, and optimistic about the world.

You're always having fun, and you're not the type to turn down anything sweet.

People might be surprised to know that you're very sensitive.

Even though you put on a brave face, your feelings are easily wounded.

Saturday Blogthingy: Off To San Diego

Have a Good Day!

Well, I am all ready to go. Just hanging around waiting until I can start getting dressed and close my suitcase and head to the airport. I was awakened by some magpies this morning, so I am a little bit tired, but the plane is good for sleeping!

I will be sure to share some photos from San Diego when I get back. We are going shopping this afternoon and then to the Zoo tomorrow. It will probably be busy because it is Father's Day, but the Zoo is huge. I am sure we will all fit!! :-)

I hope that you all have a wonderful time this weekend doing what you enjoy. It is supposed to rain in Calgary all weekend long. That is not so good. Hopefully Jonathan will not be stuck inside all day long, though!

Well, in keeping with tradition, here's a Saturday blog thingy. Since we are going to the place where Mexican food is all around us, I figured a quiz about that would be good. I am not a big Mexican food eater, but I will eat it if there is nothing else. As it turns out, I am my favorite type of Mexican food!! You are what you eat, right?

You Are Nachos

You are outgoing and generous. You love to share you life with other people.

You are carefree and light-hearted. You try to always make the best of things.

While you enjoy being with other people, you also value your alone time.

You like to reflect, think, and pick things apart. You like to study everything carefully.

A Saturday Blogthingy: Bikinis

Something fun for today!! Have a wonderful day, girls!

You Are a Retro Bikini!

You prefer a bikini that's flirty and feminine, not flashy.

You look sweet and sexy - a rarity on the beach these days!

A Saturday Blogthingy: My Personality

This one is pretty much dead on. I like to think of myself as compassionate, but I am way too rational for that!! And yes, I do tend to speak my mind, which tends to get me into trouble.

Your Personality Is Rational

You are both logical and creative. You are full of ideas.

You are so rational that you analyze everything. This drives people a little crazy!

Intelligence is important to you. You always like to be around smart people.

In fact, you're often a little short with people who don't impress you mentally.

You seem distant to some - but it's usually because you're deep in thought.

Those who understand you best are fellow Rationals.

In love, you tend to approach things with logic. You seek a compatible mate - who is also very intelligent.

At work, you tend to gravitate toward idea building careers - like programming, medicine, or academia.

With others, you are very honest and direct. People often can't take your criticism well.

As far as your looks go, you're coasting on what you were born with. You think fashion is silly.

On weekends, you spend most of your time thinking, experimenting with new ideas, or learning new things.

We are off to swimming lessons in an hour or so. I get to swim with Emma and Aidan is repeating the same course he did last time. He is like Jonathan and does not really like to swim so much. Emma is my fish! As long as he has some skills so that he can swim without drowning. That's all I ask for. No pressure to be the next Olympic Swimmer.

A Saturday Blogthingy: Medieval Job and She's Okay

We have been having some internet issues the past few days. I totally forgot to do a Top Ten yesterday. Sorry, everyone!

We had a busy day yesterday. We went to a friend's house for lunch and a playdate. It was fun until Emma decided to fall down the stairs. Yes, the full set. I grabbed her about 3 stairs up from the hardwood floor. I held her for like 2 seconds and then she wanted down. There was no blood or broken limbs. (Luckily my friend's stairs are carpeted!) I will keep you posted on the bruises, which I am sure there will be. Emma seems fine. Mommy, on the other hand, is traumatized for life.

We are finally getting warmer temperatures. This is a nice break, since we have been in the deep freeze for the past week. Perhaps spring is on its way!

I went to a meeting on Wednesday night to save the women's creative writing newsletter. That's the one where my poem was published last spring. There were only 3 of us there. (A fourth one had a prior commitment, but is willing to do a job!) Please pray for me. I don't have time to be the Editor in Chief. I do want to be involved somehow. I just want to follow God's plan for this. Listen to His voice!

Anyway, I thought a light blogthingy would be in order! Have a wonderful day.

You Are a Playwright

You are a highly literate wordsmith. You love both reading and writing.

You are also a natural storyteller. You can turn a mediocre anecdote into a riveting tale.

You find people and all aspects of life fascinating. No topic is off limits for you.

In modern times, you would make a good filmmaker or novelist.

A Saturday Blogthingy (On Sunday): Emoticons

I just read PostSecret this morning. There is a secret on there that matches a secret story about someone I know. I don't really know if this secret is true, but it really makes me want to write a story about it. Anyway, you sould read that blog if you never have. It is very interesting.

Aidan got up with me this morning for my quiet time. He has been watching cartoons. My daughter is now awake, too. So, I will leave you with this fun blogthingy. Have a wonderful Sunday and remember: "Are you ready for some football???"

Happy Superbowl Sunday!! (Go Cardinals Go - at least that's who Jonathan says we are cheering for! (I don't actually know!))

Your Emoticon Is Smiling

Right now, you're feeling cheerful and content - without a care in the world.

A Saturday Blogthingy: Winter Hat

I slept in this morning! I know. I am trying to fight off this cold/nasal thing. It really hurts. Perhaps it is just dry, but I really needed my sleep this morning. So, I slept.

Jonathan is on team tonight at church, so we dropped him off after lunch. We will hang out at home until it is time to go to church.

It is freezing cold outside today. I don't like the cold. Luckily we installed a block heater in our car yesterday and replaced some tires. The block heater is amazing. I love it!!

Anyway, in light of our cold temperatures I thought I would find a interesting blogthing. I think it is pretty dead on, except for the style over comfort. I like being comfortable, but there are somethings I will not wear. (Like toques (winter hats)!) I refuse!! I would rather wrap a scarf around my head than wear a hat that mashes down my hair!! :-)

You Are a Skull Cap

You are attractive, well put together, and even sexy.

You use fashion to look as hot as possible, even if it means sacrificing comfort.

You're the type most likely to resist wearing a bulky coat or silly hat in the winter.

You prefer to freeze a little if it means looking as stylish as possible.
