Friday Fill-ins: Paint the Town Red

Well, tomorrow is painting day. We are painting all three bedrooms. They are pretty much boxes for rooms, so it is straight painting. The only room that is really special for painting is Emma's, in which we are painting it pink with purple stripes halfway up the wall. It will look wonderful.

Our bedroom is being painted a nice blue. Aidan chose green for his room and on one wall we are going to use chalkboard paint. That will be pretty fun for him, I think, since he loves to teach people things. He is my son, after all!

Today, I am going to try and clean up my room. Wish me luck, as it is quite crowded and messy. We really haven't 'moved' into our room yet because we knew that we would be painting it. Anyway, it is time to declutter so all we have to do is move furniture tomorrow.

My sister and Jonathan are painting with me. The kids are staying at Granny and Grandpa's so they should have a good time. The three painters are staying at a hotel. I do not want to sleep on the floor or with the paint fumes!!

It is a long weekend and it is supposed to be HOT!! It would be a nice weekend to go camping, but I heard that they are pretty much all booked up since they started on-line booking. It sounds good in theory, but all the campsites were booked up within an hour of them starting this online thing...Perhaps technology isn't always better. Although you might like to know before hand if you have a spot.

In any case...Today is Friday and that means a Friday Fill-in. Nothing like one of those to start the weekend off with, right?

1. It's time for August to start and I can hardly believe it. Where did July go? It seems to have flown by so quickly. Aidan starts Kindergarten in less than a month and Mommy is not ready! But will I ever be?

2. Calgary; it's not a bad place for a redneck, cowtown. I really have started to feel like we live here now. Like this is home now. Jonathan is starting to know the back roads, know the ins and outs, and he really likes the office here. This is becoming home. A place to set up our roots. It is nice.

3. I must be tired lately because I keep calling my kids by the other child's name. Eventually I just say, "Whatever your name is". What is up with my brain these days?

4. God's love is the best thing I have ever known.

5. My husband is simply wonderful and generous and very caring. I am blessed to have him around, especially when I get crazy or moody or stressed! He is so calm and laid back. It is almost our 10 year anniversary and I can't imagine my life without him. The years have been an adventure and I can't wait to see what the next 10 hold!

6. The last time I laughed really loudly was watching this hilarious comedian on Just For Laughs.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relax with my husband and watch a movie or something, tomorrow my plans include painting, painting and more painting and Sunday, I want to paint and relax in the hotel's hot tub because my body might be a little bit sore!

Things Heard at Camp...

In her bunk bed

Doing the puppet show again. Grandpa and Aidan were weekend long buddies!

Campfire

Emma playing in the tent. She thought it was neat!

Emma at the campfire on Saturday night. She almost fell asleep.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Things Heard at Camp
...whispered by Emma: "goodnight mommy, goodnight jenny, goodnight grandpa, goodnight granny, goodnight aidan..."
..."There's a gofer in the cabin. HELP!"
..."Look at the deer, Aidan and Emma. Do you see them?"
...Emma: "Let's find Grandpa's flowers (aka some wild flowers growing)"
...Aidan: "Grandpa, let's do a puppet show with my cows!"
..."Now we remember how Harry Potter ends..."
..."Stand back from the fire!"
...Aidan: "I am going to sleep in the tent with Granny, but no snoring. Okay,
Granny?"
...Aidan: "I want to go back into the building now!" (At 1 in the morning!)
...Aidan: "I like watching the toilet paper go down the hole!" (Okay, he may not have said that exactly, but it is what he did everytime he went to the bathroom!)
...Emma: "I need to go to the bathroom, too! Now, wash my hands?" (She didn't need to go, but wanted to go whenever one of the girls went. I guess she's started the 'bathroom group thing' early!)
...Emma in her sleep: "I want to go, too. I want to go, too!" and really loud giggling!
And the thing that we will all remember about camp...

...Emma whispering: "Granny asleep? Yes. Grandpa asleep? Yes. Aidan asleep? Yes. Jenny asleep? Yes. Mommy asleep? Yes. Emma asleep? No."

Tuesday Tunes 40: No Matter What...

It's rainy outside. The weather is cooler and I am reminded again how great our God is. I know that sounds weird, but I sometimes forget. Sometimes I am not always mindful of Him and His greatness and goodness.

This is one of my favorite worship songs right now. I LOVE Hillsong United. They are one of my favorite worship bands and I LOVE the way they do this song. God is mighty and powerful. He saves us and all He asks for us in return is to love Him and believe in Him. So easy...

I just had to put another one with this one. David Crowder is another favorite. This is another one about God just being with us through everything. I listened to this song a lot while my Dad was sick. It is such a comfort to know that He is always with us. He never lets us go...

Manic Monday: Deep

It's Monday

Camping was fun...I am SOOO TIRED, though. It will take me a couple of days to recover. I should have slept like a log, too, but Jonathan has a cold. So, he was coughing and tossing and turning. I did not sleep well.

I will write more about camp tomorrow, when I upload some of the pictures. The kids were having such a good time that they both asked to go camping again next week. Even little Emma!

Today I am resting up. The kids will be, too. This coming weekend we will be painting the bedrooms. Jenny, Jonathan and I, that is. The kids will be hanging out at Granny and Grandpa's for the weekend. It works out well because they are going away for 10 days after that to San Francisco and Las Vegas. I am glad they are going. It has been a hard couple of years for them and they need a nice trip!

These Manic Mondays are getting to be a little bit deep lately. Anyway, I am sorry if they are seeming a bit much. I am just speaking from what I believe...

What is one thing that you would change about yourself if you could?
Perhaps I could be more like Jesus. I know that sounds so "hallmark Christian-y" but that is what I would really like. Everything else is not as important as that. That is most important to me, anyways.

Name three exotic countries you would like to visit:
Well, we have been watching the "Long Way Down" documentary with Ewan McGregor. They ride motorbikes across Africa. It has reminded me that I really want to go to Africa sometime.

Also, I think it would be fun to travel to Australia and see kangaroos in the wild. And perhaps Asia...If I had to choose an exotic place...

What do you think the secret to life is?
Having a relationship with God. (or coffee...Just kidding...)
