Top Ten Fridays: Romantic Things...

We went shopping yesterday. The kids were grumpy as they are still fighting off their colds. I feel better today than I did yesterday. I am trying to take it easy...So hard with 2 little ones and Emma is starting to get into everything...SIGH!

Went out with Jenny last night for supper and shopping (without kids). I bought a new pair of jeans and a sweater. I also got some iPod Socks so I can protect my iPod and my cell phone. We had lovely Cheesecake Appetizers and wonderful cheesecake for dessert. Thanks, again, Jenny! It was lovely and much needed.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I don't really get into this holiday. I mean, it is really just another reason to spend money. We should be telling our loved ones that we love them every day, not just on Valentine's Day.

Regardless of my feelings, I feel as though I need to do something to mark the occasion with. So, without furthur ado, I will get sappy for just a moment...(Sorry, everyone!)

Top Ten Romantic Moments in My Marriage: (things Jonathan has done - Chronologically from start to now)

10) Roses - When we first met, way back when...'96?, Jonathan showed up one day with flowers for all of the girls on our music ministry team. It was sooo romantic and made the other 3 guys look really bad. Anyway, I will remember that for the rest of my life.
9) Sang to Me - On Morning Star, again. It was sweet, considering he hates his voice. Somehow that made it all the more sweeter.

8) CD mix - On Morning Star we used to write out songs to each other. We used to keep a journal and we would write letters to each other back and forth. Anyway, over Christmas break he made a tape of songs and put 3 of 'our' songs on it. Hidden in the middle, so no one else would know. When he played the tape in the van, he signalled to me that I should listen to these next few songs, in the rearview mirror.

7) Newmarket, Ontario - The 2nd time that we went to Newmarket (where Jonathan is from) with Morning Star. We had a day off and we spent it together. We went to the mall, out for lunch, hung out with his family (I loved his family right away), watch the X-Files with Jennifer (see I do remember that, Jennifer)...It was just nice that he and I were able to 'be a couple' for that short time.

6) Showing up unannounced - He had a great way of surprising me, when we were dating, of showing up at my school, my home, etc. without telling me. I loved that. The epitome of this was when he drove down to Calgary to visit me without letting me know. He told my parents, of course, but not me. It really made my weekend!

5) Proposal - He shooed me to bed on Christmas Eve so he could ask my parents if he could marry me. The next morning he proposed after I had opened all my presents. I hadn't even realized that he had not given me any presents. So wonderful....

4) Wedding Night - (its not what you think) He gave me the ring (covenant ring) he had worn since he was a teenager and the journal he had written to his future wife. (That was me!!) Tears...

More recently...

3) Grandmother's Death - I was away when she had her stroke, at a Guide camp in Edmonton. My parents had called him and told him that morning. He picked me up from camp on the Sunday and said nothing. He let me go through the rest of the day and night, so I could sleep, eat, etc. He knew that I would be on the next bus to Calgary. The next morning he told me I needed to call my parents. I know it seems strange or weird, but it just show me that he knows me so well...

2) Unexpected Presents - Like the "Friends Scene it" game he brought back from his trip to Edmonton.

1) Presents - Like my diamond necklace, Pride and Prejudice, Tickets to Mamma Mia....
------------------------

There are many other things. I could go on, but I will stop. He will admit that he is not that romantic. I would agree. I think it is just the little things that he does for me, for our kids, for our family. Those are the things that I remember.

I hope that no matter how you feel about Valentine's Day and the whole commercialism of the thing, that you would spend some time with those special someones and just let them know that you love them. I try to do it everyday.

Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks for reading my blog. You are all awesome!!

Just a Quickie!!

I just wanted to ask for some prayer, those of you that are prayers.

Jonathan's other Grandma (Grandma Kay), who is Sandra's Mom, is in the hospital. She is not feeling well and refusing food and drink. Please keep her in you prayers. (Sandra's computer is on the blitz right now, which is why she hasn't been around....)

Secondly, this sickness (cold-thingy) is trying to attach itself to me. I am feeling it this morning, but I am NOT giving in. Please pray for health. I am trying to take care of everyone else, I don't need to get sick as well.

Thanks for your prayers. Since I missed blogging on Tuesday, here's a tune or two for your enjoyment!

Blessings to you all!!

Steve Carrell... Hilarious!

Seriously! He is too funny. We watched "Get Smart" (the remake) last night and he just makes me laugh. We also got to watch Season One of "The Office" and we have been watching on Thursday nights when CSI is a repeat. He has such good comedic timing and is so good at keeping a straight face. Anyway, here are some clips. Be prepared to laugh!

"The Office" - Pledge of Allegiance

"The Office" - Bankruptcy

"The Office" - Fool Me Once...
