Ahhh... Mr. Darcy

So I was in Starbucks yesterday morning.  Emma was in Preschool, so you will often find me here.  I like to go and do homework, read, spend time with God and, of course, have a coffee.  Yesterday was a regular morning, until I looked up.

There at a table across the way was Colin Firth's twin brother.  Okay.  He had glasses.  He also had some unwanted facial hair (I say unwanted because Colin (we're on a first name basis) doesn't have any)!  He was also a bit chubbier.  But still.  The eyes.  The dimples, the hair...It was all there.

Needless to say, I did the next most important thing: sent a text to my sister and hubby.  Jen wanted me to get a picture.  Jonathan thought I should go up and start talking in an English accent.  I did neither of those.  First of all, he was looking down the whole time doing a crossword puzzle (not writing his sister Georgiana).  Secondly, he left quite abruptly after receiving a phone call which made him quite perturbed (or proud - hard to say).  So, we will have to content ourselves with pictures of the original man himself!

I had to share.  Now I have a huge urge to watch P&P.  If you wonder what I am doing this weekend, that will probably be on my list!!  Until then, enjoy this fan video, which I've shared before, but it bears repeating!!

Tuesday Tunes: In Tha Muthahood!

It's been a rough week, so here's a little something funny to remind me that I am not alone in this strange place called "muthahood"! Check it out, yo!

Christ is Risen Indeed!!

After the Sabbath, as the first light of the new week dawned, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to keep vigil at the tomb. Suddenly the earth reeled and rocked under their feet as God's angel came down from heaven, came right up to where they were standing. He rolled back the stone and then sat on it. Shafts of lightning blazed from him. His garments shimmered snow-white. The guards at the tomb were scared to death. They were so frightened, they couldn't move.

The angel spoke to the women: "There is nothing to fear here. I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as he said. Come and look at the place where he was placed.
Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples, 'He is risen from the dead. He is going on ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there.' That's the message."

The women, deep in wonder and full of joy, lost no time in leaving the tomb. They ran to tell the disciples. Then Jesus met them, stopping them in their tracks. "Good morning!" he said. They fell to their knees, embraced his feet, and worshiped him. Jesus said, "You're holding on to me for dear life! Don't be frightened like that. Go tell my brothers that they are to go to Galilee, andthat I'll meet them there."

Matthew 28: 1-10 (The Message)

It's Monday....

Here we are, at the start of a new week.  A busy one, too.  Lots going on.

Tonight I am leading worship at my Bible study.  I am excited since I am doing a little something different.  A mini Good Friday service, if you will.  Should be interesting...  First time doing something like this, but I believe it is totally from God.  I will continue to pray all day so that God will be at the center no matter what.

Also, starting to tutor on Wednesday.  My Mom and I are team tutoring.  It should be good.

Thursday night, my sister and I are going to see Frank Warren the PostSecret guy.  I am so excited.  He is having a book signing afterwards that I think we will try and stay for.  I mean, it's Frank.  I feel like I know him, even though I don't...not really anyway.  All of the proceeds go to the Suicide Prevention Line, so it is for a good cause.  Anyway, check the website (www.postsecret.com) if you have no idea what I am talking about.

Friday I am off to horseback riding camp for the night.  We are back Saturday night at 9 or so.  I am excited because I don't get to ride horses very often.  Jonathan is allergic to them, which means I will have to throw all my clothes in the wash as SOON as I get home.  Then head straight into the shower.  Do not pass go.  Do not collect $200...

Anyway, I am very excited about this week, but I am also getting tired just thinking about it!!  Ah well, God will give me strength!  Here is one of the awesome songs I am doing tonight!!  Enjoy!

Friday Fill-in: Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun...

Happy Friday, everyone!!  Sorry it has been awhile again.  I am trying to sneak in some homework, worship prep for Bible study and some real quality time with the kids.  Also, I have been seriously trying to write...stories, that is.  Anyway, if you are wondering where I am, that's where.

Here's a Fill-in, though.  Thought I could at least do that!!

And...here we go!

1. In the near darkness I wake in the morning to the alarm.  And then I sigh...At least it's Friday today!!

2. I will be drinking coffee this morning till further notice.  It's just one of those mornings, ya know?

3. But this song, though horrid, always gets stuck in my head!!

(Hee! Hee!  Now it's in yours!!)

4. I'd like to throw all of the housework I have to do in the stream. Perhaps it would just float away???  Maybe I should just do it instead!!

5. It's always nice to wake up to the sun shining, the birds singing and the fresh smell of coffee.

6. We have small group on Sunday which is always good, especially now that we are studying Hosea, and is filled with pleasant company.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to doing some more of our couple study that the hubby and I are doing, and perhaps watching a movie, tomorrow my plans include driving people places and then doing the WHOLE large group time (twice!!) for Promiseland and Sunday, I want to relax, go to small group, and then relax some more!!

Hard Times

Well, the job prospects are looking more and more bleak.  They are laying off more staff in the school system this coming year.  So, what now?  What does God have in store?  I am not sure.  I know He has brought me to this place in time for a reason.  Maybe He's pushing me to something that I don't think I can do...like writing or something like that.  Anyway, I will wait and ask for prayer for patience and wisdom about what He wants me to do.  I will keep you posted.

In any case, Tangled comes out next week.  If you haven't seen it, please make sure you do.  It is REALLY good.  One of the best princess movies ever.  I pre-ordered my copy, if just so I can watch it.  I can't wait till it arrives on my doorstep!  Until then, here's the song from my favorite scene with the floating lanterns...So romantic and so beautiful.  I cried....

Thursday Thoughts....Keith Urban

Tags Maker is a Text Image Generator to write Messages, Comments or Tags on Pictures
Keith Urban is coming in September.  Tickets go on sale March 4th.  I am going to check out the cheap seats.  I would like to see him, and it is a concert that Jonathan would like, too!  (He doesn't do Country much, but he does love some Keith Urban.) Right now with where we are in our lives, Keith's songs really speak to us about, well, us!  I guess that is why I like him.

He also is a really good guitar player and has a nice voice with a really nice tone to it. I could listen to him for hours.  Plus, he is a rebel who settled down.  Kinda sweet and romantic.

I am sure his tickets will sell out quite quickly.  Tickets always do.  But, I will see.  It would be a nice date night...especially with songs like this!

Ramblings on a Friday

God's hand Pictures, Images and Photos

Wanted to write something today.  No idea what.  Feeling very tired this morning.  It's gonna be a busy weekend, too!  Starting with a girl's night out tonight to make cards.  I LOVE making cards.  The thought of doing it uninterrupted (except for the girl talk, of course) sounds heavenly.

Jonathan is on worship team all weekend.  While I fully support him in this, and pray for him constantly while he is on team, I still am stuck alone with the kids for the majority of the weekend.  It turns out to be a long weekend...God is gracious, though.  The kids and I usually find something to occupy our time together, so I shouldn't complain too much.  They are growing up so fast, too!  Emma will be 4 in a few weeks and Aidan will be 7!!!  No more little boy...just all boy.  YIKES!

In other news, I will be taking 6 girls (15-17yrs old) to Paris in 2012 - My Ranger group.  (Girl Guides)  We had our parent meeting last night.  The three that showed up are signed up and ready to fundraise.  Hubby is really excited at the prospect of me leaving for 10 days.  Of course my Mom will be around this time, so that should go better.  He can at least take breaks.  It's good for him, too!  I think they all really had fun last time, though they wouldn't admit it, lest I do it again!!

I will leave you with a song today.  I recently purchased the new Chris Tomlin CD.  I love his stuff.  Anyway, here's one of my favorites off this album.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Tuesday Tunes 68: Sia

I have been in a Sia kick lately.  You may never have heard of her before, but she has had a few songs featured in movies.  Anyway, this is the one that has been going through my head lately from Eclipse.  This version has nice pictures to go along with it!  Enjoy!

Tuesday Tunes 63: A Classic Love Story

Beauty and the BeastFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore
My favorite Disney princess movie of all time is Beauty and the Beast.  I love that one.  I love Belle.  She is smart, loves books and wants adventure.  Just like me!!  And she has brown hair.  That is a bonus!  Also the love story is a bit different.  The princess (Belle) saves the prince (Beast).  But I think he saves her, too, from her ultimate fate of marrying Gaston...yuck!

Anyway, I also LOVE this song from Moulin Rouge.  (Especially Ewan McGregor's voice!  So nice and warm!)  So without furthur ado, here's the cute fan video I have found of Beauty and the Beast.  Enjoy!

Tuesday Tunes 60: Star Wars

Star-Wars-Comments
Aidan is sick at home today.  He is complaining that he has a sore stomach.  So, I am not going to push it today.  It has been going around his class, so I don't doubt that his body is fighting something off.  I think he is run down from school, too.  I have been feeling this way for the past week or so.  When is school going to end?  Oh right...next Friday.

I have 2 words for today's Fan Video: Star Wars!!  I grew up watching it, playing it, loving it.  Almost time for Aidan to watch it, I think.  He's 6 (which is about the time I first watched it).  I think he can handle it now.  Not too much inappropriate humor or anything, at least in the first 3.  Of course my husband KNOWS every single line of the first 3 movies.  It is cute watching him watch the movies.  Like a little boy in a candy shop.

When we were kids it was always a fight to see who would play what character.  My sister and I would fight over Leia.  Always.  I would usually win because I was older.  Just the way it goes!!  Then my sister would end up playing something else.  Boys always wanted to be Han Solo or Luke Skywalker.

Jonathan and I first got to know each other during a Star Wars marathon while on Morning Star.  He is my Han Solo.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy!!

Uggghhh Monday!

I can't believe the weekend went by so quickly.  I am so tired today.  I guess I should stop trying to do so much on the weekends, but we had a great day Saturday.  Took the kids swimming and then for a drive.  It was nice to spend some family time.  When you are at home, it is hard to focus on family activities because there is always some work to be done.  It was nice to swim and just be as a family.

Only a few more weeks until Guiding Mosaic in Guelph, ON.  That is where all my attention is going right now.  Making traders, gathering equipment, making sure all is ready to go....  10 days without the kids...I have never done that before (or been away from Jonathan that long since we've been married).  Should be interesting.

I have a question.  I am thinking about getting my hair done in braids for camp (Cornrows) because we don't really have showers.  (Well, we have solar powered showers, but not real showers!) I am thinking this would cut down on the amount of washing I would have to do.  Anyway, does this sound like a good idea?  Has anyone done this before?  Just wondering...

Here's a little fun video for your Monday afternoon, while I continue to plow through my salad... It is from the wonderful movie "The Holiday".  One of my favorite scenes!!  So cute.

Tune in tomorrow for another great Fan Video for Tuesday Tunes!!

So, here we go!!

Obviously I need some U2. Here's my ultimate favorite (or at least one of them!)

Obviously we need some "Friends". Here's one where Joey is getting his words/terms confused. Too funny.

And of course my favorite movie!!

My favorite character on the Street!

Sesame-Street-Comments
Okay. After reading Tina's blog (Hot Kerfuffle - check it out), I decided that I definitely needed to write a bit more about Sesame Street. As a child of the 80s, I hit Sesame Street in its prime. I LOVED Bert and Ernie, Grover and Big Bird. But my absolute favorite character was Snuffleupagus. I always hoped he would be on every single time I watched. Here are a few clips that I love!!

Who was your favorite character? I would love to know!!

Friday Fill-in: H1N1 Strikes Too Close To Home

It is an unsettling morning around here. My sister had a friend who came down with H1N1 on Monday. He was hospitalized and went into a coma. He passed away yesterday morning. He was only 23. Jenny had just gone with him (and some of his friends) to P.E.I. It is one thing when you hear about "other" people dying from this thing, but to hear of it from someone so close. I think that is the scary part.

We are supposed to go to a Fall Festival at WestJet today. We'll see if she is up to it or not. Poor girl! I feel so bad.

In any case, I am keeping Aidan home one more day. He is on the mend, but I would rather keep him home until he is 100% (or at least closer to it than he is now). They are only doing some fun Halloween stuff in class today. Plus, I let him go to the Girl Guide Halloween Party last night. (I had promised him for weeks now!) Anyway, we were out late. Better to let everyone sleep in, especially since I do not have Maggie today!

I am wondering if people will not be letting their kids go out trick-or-treating because of the outbreak of H1N1....I am wondering a lot of things, like should we all get the shot?? I am thinking yes, especially after Jenny's friend. I think we should all get it, even Jonathan who hates getting any shots. But since we are around the lungless wonder (aka my Dad) alot, we should all do our part to keep him healthy. He is at risk because of his lung shortage!!

Speaking of which, he is going to Toronto next week for his 6 month check-up. He already saw the cancer dude here, who said he was doing just great. So, we don't expect too much. But, keep him in your prayers, all the same.

Now, on to something a bit lighter than the above. (What a downer I am...Aren't you glad you stopped by??)

ffi
1. It was a dark and stormy night, but I was not worried since I was nice and warm with a book, blanket and cup of warm hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate and have finally started drinking some more since it is fall. I also love hot apple cider. I am currently out, though. Need to put it on the grocery list.

2. Someone didn't want the books they got for Christmas so I offered to take the books myself. I love books. I just wish I had more places for them to rest, instead of in boxes (about 20 to be exact) in the basement.

3. Rushing out, I realized I did not have a diaper for Emma and hoped she wouldn't poop. At least that is what I thought last night while driving away from the house to the Halloween party. Sometimes it is so crazy to get from one place to the next.

4. Shhh...I think I heard a howl!... No that was just Emma saying "Mama, mama, mama, I wanna get up!"

5. Shhhh... Ahhh, silence. No little ones right now. All are still in bed. Lovely!!

6. Please give me something good to eat! I haven't had breakfast yet this morning. My stomach is starting to rumble.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing with the hubby and kiddos (perhaps watching some Boomtown (season one) which I found in a clearance bin at the SuperStore), tomorrow my plans include shopping for a stroller and Trick-or- Treating with the kids at Granny and Grandpa's (Jonathan is on worship team) and Sunday, I want to take my parents to the airport (and have breaky with them), grocery shop, and have my sister join us for supper!

Happy Halloween to all my Blogging friends!!

Sorry...Again!!

I have been meaning to blog for a few days now, but look, almost 3 days are gone since my last posting. I am not doing so good on the blogging thing lately.
Maggie has been taking up all my time today. She is not quite herself today and is getting into everything. Aidan is home sick today, as he was on Monday. It is just a cold. I will watch to make sure it does not get worse. Supposedly there is a 10% absenteeism at most Calgary schools right now. H1N1 has hospitalized some 200 people in our region. People are being extra cautious right now. I always just keep a sick kid home!!

Line-ups to get the vaccine are 3+hours long. I was thinking about getting my kids and I one, but I am not going to make them stand in line for that long. Temper-tantrums would ensue. Perhaps in a week or so when everyone is less anxious.

Other than that, life marches on. Seems like I am doing a steady run most days...On a treadmill...With no emergency stop button. (Sigh!) Why do I do this again? Sometimes I need reminders....

Built from clay and breath of God
This is who you are
Made to house eternal love
This is who you are
Matter and spirit combined
This is who you are
Temple for the Lord Most High
This is who you are

Echo of creation’s song
This is who you are
Remnant of the Chosen Ones
This is who you are
Ember of a holy fire
This is who you are
Object of the King’s desire
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are
Heaven sings this song to you…
This is who you are

Little lamb who wanders off
This is who you are
One the Shepherd won’t leave lost
This is who you are
Rescued by His sacrifice
This is who you are
Now the hands and feet of Christ
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are…

Hear the Father call your name
Shine with His eternal flame
Bear His image in your soul
This is who you are
Listen ‘til you finally know
This is who you are
