Our Zoo Adventure

Aidan with the turtle.

The lion up close!! This never happens. He even has his head up!!

Look at the pretty waterfall.

Aidan riding the lion (Aslan) as we like to call him.

Aidan loves the Triceratops.

This was my first time taking the kids to the zoo by myself. It was one of the best times that we have had at the zoo.

We had ice cream, Aidan went on the train. We saw all the animals including the lions, baby peacocks and a gorilla right by the window of the inclosure. It was amazing.

The Big News: Aidan went on the toilet at the zoo. I had some bandaids in my backpack, just in case he fell again like last time. Since the zoo has self-flushing toilets, Aidan does not like to use them. They are rather scary to a young child. I placed a bandaid on the seeing eye this time, and he was able to go. We went to Walmart today and I bought a package of cheap bandaids to carry with me wherever we go. Then Aidan will be able to use the toilet!! I may make a brand of these and start my own company!!

I was so proud of my kids, especially Aidan who is very passionate about life. Sometimes too passionate, if you know what I mean. He's growing up, I guess. I am not sure I am ready for him to grow up, but I will try to be brave and let go of the apron strings, bit by bit.

Sigh! Being a parent is hard!!

Those potties scare me too! You wiggle even the slightest bit on the seat, and it flushes! Really don't like being "sprayed".

I'm glad you had a good time at the zoo. Next week, we could still try to do the play place if you want. How are your afternoons next week? Let me know, mostly with regards to nap times, and we will figure something out. We keep saying we will do stuff lol...

You are one clever mother, with how you dealt with the scary "seeing eye". You know, as an adult, those loud automatic flushers scare me, too!!(I think I may need to start remembering your bandaid fix!)

Yes, one step at a time, as far as letting our children let go of our apron strings(or in my case, I think I still WANT to have my child holding on just a little). Today, we put my daughter on the ferry to Block Island by HERSELF!! She was invited out to stay with asome friends renting ahouse there by the beach. My first thought was that I didn't want her going alone, but then thought about it--she is 13 and someone will meet here at the harbor when the boat arrives there. She's been on the boat already a few times with me, so she knows what to expect and how to get off.
