I am working the elections. They were short on people to sit at polling stations, so that is what I am going to be doing. I am the Registration Officer. People come to me who are not on the voters list and I register them. They have to give me an oath that they are who they say they are. Very interesting. I am making $250 for a day's work. I think I can handle that.
The other reasons I think this should be good is that I am being an excellent role model for my children. I have been brought up to believe that every vote counts, even your own. By participating in this way, I am really showing my children how important it is. Of course, I am sure they don't know what is happening, but it is the principal of the thing.
Don't get me wrong - I am all for reforming our voting process, whether it's municipal, provincial or federal. I am all for voting for leaders, as well as our local MLAs, MPs, etc. I am also for Senate reform. We should have more say on who is a part of the Senate. They do, after all, make many very important decisions.
With that said, I still believe that we should all take part in elections, no matter how we feel about the process. You can always use your vote in favor of someone who is willing to look into our voting process. It is our duty and our right. We should all use it!
