Friday Fill-in: Swim Test

It is Friday.  I am so happy (and sore from the swim test I had to do last night for Guides).  We have to do a test (swim 50m, tread water for one minute) so that we can do the water activities this summer at camp.  Anyway, as I was doing it I thought to myself, "How often do I actually swim when I go swimming?"  I have 2 kids who need me to help them in the water.  One of them likes to only play with toys.  So how often do I actually 'swim'?  It was an interesting question to ponder and the way my legs and arms are feeling today, I guess I actually haven't swam in a long time.

I passed so I can go and learn how to sail this summer at camp.  I have never been and really want to learn.  I am excited about that!!

I hope that whatever you do, you have a wonderful weekend.

1. Today I will be staying in my pajamas, doing crafts and homework for as long as the kids will let me.  Aidan does not have school today and Maggie is going to be late.  I plan on making the most of this!!

2. Tonight I will have a glass of wine and I say why not? It is Friday night of what seemed like a LONG week.  The time change really affected us all.  It will be nice to have a glass and unwind.

3. What do you think of the coverage of the ParaOlympics so far?  I think it is a shame that we cannot show the events when they are happening.  Those poor athletes work really hard to get to the Olympics and how can we watch them when they are on at such weird times??

4. At our house it's free Pastry Day til 1030 Friday! Or at least it would be if I had pastry.  Especially some baguettes with chocolate in the center....Oh how I wish I was eating one of those right now and sipping some coffee in a cafe in Paris...

5. People say that what we're all seeking is Jesus.  And I am one of those people.  Actually I think He will continue to seek you out even though you continue to deny Him.  He longs for you and loves you.  I just want you to know that today, even if you don't believe it.

6. The image I cherish most is the cross and the empty tomb.  That is the most important thing in my life and I could not live without it.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to wine (as stated above) and cuddling up with the hubby, tomorrow my plans include getting a new washer and dryer and doing some laundry and Sunday, I want to spend time with my parents and sister!

Tuesday Tunes 55: Really???

After a tough morning of parenting and feeling quite defeated, I decided to post something light for today's Tuesday Tunes.  I heard this song on the radio the other day.  They were playing "Guess that Band" and I would have won, too!!

I don't know if you have heard the news, but Michael Tait (of DC Talk - front and center of picture above) is now the lead singer of the Newsboys.  Yes, you heard me correctly.  So, one of their songs has now been released on the radio.  I am not sure what your feelings are on this subject.  I guess you just can't think of the Newsboys like you used to.  At least I know I can't.  Anyway, take a listen and see what you think.

Tuesday Tunes 54: Happy Birthday, Emma!!

Yes, today Emma, my baby, turns 3.  We no longer have any babies in this house.  Only kids.  Crazy, but good.  We have entered a new stage of our family life.  It is nice.  She keeps saying that she is growing bigger and bigger.  I guess she is right.  Happy Birthday, Miss Ems!!  Love you, baby girl.

I am still fighting off a cold.  feels like my nose and throat are dry all the time.  Yuck.  Anyway, I will conquer it.  Perhaps not until after this weekend (and Emma's birthday party) are over.

Lately, hubby and I have been listening to a lot of 80s music.  You know, reliving our childhood.  Our latest 80s fix is Don Henly (aka drummer for The Eagles). Anyway, his stuff is so timeless.  I love it.  Anyway, here is one of my favorites.  It always takes me back to elementary school and listening to the radio in the car.  Some songs just do that.  Hope this takes you all back, too!!
