No "Resolutions" Just Things I Will Do!!

Here they are in random order:

1) Call my doctor to get a check-up, flu shots and talk about my unbearable emotional self at that time of the month. It is getting ridiculous and it has always been a problem. It is time to seek professional help, for me and for my family. I cannot go on this way.

2) Call my dentist.

3) Write more, read more and spend less time here. If I am not blogging as much, then it is a good thing.

4) Spend time with God, even if I have to get up at 6 every morning. It will be worth it!!

Those are the most important things I have on my mind right now. Whatever else happens, well that will be gravy.

Merry Christmas!!

christmas manger scene Pictures, Images and Photos
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. May you be filled with God's joy and peace this year.

It has been a wonderful time for us here. The presents were opened. The kids were so surprised and joyful with their gifts. The sermon was excellent last night. It has been a wonderful time for us here. I hope it has been the same where ever you are.

Most importantly, we have been so blessed to be able to spend time with our kids talking about Jesus. That is the most important thing to me. I hope that you have taken some time to remember the real reason why we celebrate Christmas.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

It's My Birthday...Oh Yeah!

Since it is my birthday (no, I am not going to tell you how old I am), I am going to have a bit of fun on my blog: by posting a few things that I personally love.

So, here we go!!

Obviously I need some U2. Here's my ultimate favorite (or at least one of them!)

Obviously we need some "Friends". Here's one where Joey is getting his words/terms confused. Too funny.

And of course my favorite movie!!

And lastly I love to laugh...

Friday Fill-in: Silly Gingerbread Cookies!!

Stick Up
Aidan's first day off for Christmas vacation. They all still woke up and got up by 7:30 am. It has made for a long morning. I am tired. I may need a nap!

I tried to make gingerbread cookies this morning. I never have any luck with those cookies. The dough is always too sticky and then I have to add so much flour. So then they end up tasting like flour. It is not so good. One day I will conquer them. One day...

The kids helped and they said that they tasted fine. As long as someone in the house will eat them. That's all that matters. It will be okay to dip them into a hot drink.

I went shopping last night and did a power shop. I am almost done now except for a Walmart run and a dollar store run. Other than that I think I am finito, benito! Thank goodness. I hate leaving shopping until the last minute.

Well, since today is Friday, I thought I would participate in the wonderful Friday fill-in. Enjoy!

ffi

1. No, we will NOT be overspending this holiday season. We (read: I)
are trying to do a better job of not spending as much. It has worked out okay!

2. I remember those great baking days with my Mom, my Aunt and my sister and I at the old kitchen table. We would make everything all in one day. We would take breaks and dance to Christmas carols. So much fun!!

3. I watched the steam rising from the hot cup of coffee (or tea) and thought: How decadent to have a warm cup of coffee. This is wonderful on a cold December day.

4. I think I am going to be okay. Some days I wonder, though. Some days I wonder...

5. I'll take a day without children anyday. I could really use it. Perhaps that is just a pipe dream.

6. Christmas has been such a good time to teach the kids about God, at least from my point of view. Family nights have been going splendidly. We are all having such a lovely time together and Emma keeps asking for Family Night. I guess these are all good signs.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to WRAPPING PRESENTS (yeah), tomorrow my plans include perhaps an early run to Walmart, the library and then a nap (or maybe supper for my birthday) and Sunday, I want to go grocery shopping early, rest and have supper with the whole fandamily!

I heard this song on the radio yesterday. It has such a powerful message, I cannot help but play it for you!! Will be back soon with pictures and stories of our trip!!

Goin' to see a Man about a Squid

Well, it has been such a crazy week around here. I mean, we have been walloped with snow, it seems like constantly. Everyone has been late to get anywhere and it has been so cold. Trying to coordinate Aidan getting to school and Jonathan getting to work has been a challenge. Add to that the whole Christmas presents needing to be sent to Ontario...Needless to say, I am glad it is Friday and we are leaving town for the weekend.

One of the many blessings of having a sister working for WestJet is the deals that she is able to get. We are taking advantage of one of these today. My parents and sister, the kids and hubby and I are all going to Vancouver for the weekend. We fly out today at 6:15 and come back on Sunday around the same time. It is a 'flying' trip, but I think the kids will really have a good time. Emma has never been on a plane and I don't think Aidan remembers.

Tomorrow we are going to spend the day at the Vancouver Aquarium. Since the kids have not seen much sea life, I think this will be great. I haven't been to the Aquarium in years. It should be good.

Anyway, I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend. I will come back with pictures and stories for your reading pleasure next week!!

In honor of the sea life, here's one of my favorite clips!!

What's on the Christmas list?

Glitter Graphics

Emma wants a Hippopotamus for Christmas. (perhaps too much of that song!! Tried posting a bit of a video of her singing it, but I think the file is too big.)

Aidan wants Mommy to have another baby! (Impossible, but I laughed so hard!!)

On a side note: Aidan had a really hard time telling me what he wanted. He kept telling me things he wanted other people to have!! He has such a good heart!!

Friday Fill-In: Brrr...

Photobucket
Yes, the weather outside is frightful (blizzard and snowing up a storm). So let's do a fill-in to keep warm!!

1. You get on chance at life. Live it to the fullest!!

2. No one has the right to make you not enjoy something. If you like Christmas and your spouse doesn't, ignore him. He'll get over it and you can celebrate. (Yes, I am speaking from personal experience!)

3. It's Christmas card time. I also need to put together some things for the Ontario package. Sooner rather than later, or else they will become "New Years Presents".

4. The amount of snow we are getting is ridiculous! I was just fine with the brown ugliness of of fall. Really, I was!!

5. I feel more Christmasy today, so I will use it to do some tedious Christmas jobs.

6. Before bed I am trying to read some Anne of Green Gables. My sister bought me a copy from the house where L.M. Montgomery wrote the story. Every night I get into bed, read a few pages and then my eyes get heavy. I close my book, take off my glasses and...goodnight!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching some more of Season 5 of "The Office", tomorrow my plans include shopping and working in Promiseland (if we can dig ourselves out, of course!) and Sunday, I want to grocery shop, do some baking and have a great time at our small group Christmas party!

Tuesday Tunes 49: Advent

Tonight is another Family Night. We are going to be talking about Advent and lighting a wreath. I think the kids will enjoy it, especially the candle part. It is just a good way to talk about the Christmas story and set the tone for the rest of the season!! Should be good.

Both of my kids have colds. So they are both still in bed this morning. Maggie was up most of the night, so she is at home with Janet. I figured Aidan could use another day of rest before heading out into the germ infested school. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow.

Today is Tuesday, so I thought we should do some Christmas songs. I am going to try and not repeat the ones I did last year. This year, I thought I would start with a funny song about Christmas. The kids love this song and I do, too because it speaks so much truth. Anyway, enjoy!!

Some Christmasy Things!!

I have decided to follow Clare and post what Mandy has on her blog. I need something easy today, after decorating and watching three kids this morning. I am tired.

(1) What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Miracle on 34th Street (the new version). Other favorites are the ones that are on TV every year, especially "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown" and "Rudolph".

(2) What is your LEAST favorite Christmas movie?

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

(3) What is your favorite Christmas song?

So many to choose from, but my favorite would be this one:

(4) What Christmas song(s) drives you crazy?

Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time

(5) What is your favorite Christmas drink? (i.e. egg nog, hot chocolate)

Egg nog or Mint Hot Chocolate

(6) What is your favorite Christmas memory?

Getting engaged. Jonathan totally surprised me. I had no idea, even though I should have had a few clues. It was wonderful!!

(7) What is the best toy/gift you've received on Christmas?

Well, other than my engagement ring, I would have to say that most of the gifts my hubby gives are WONDERFUL!! Last year it was an iPod Nano. The year before that it was "Pride and Prejudice" (The collector's version) and a diamond necklace...He really does know how to buy gifts. I am pretty sure something is up already with this years, although I have no idea what!!

(8) What is the worst toy/gift you've received on Christmas?

It is hard to choose something...

(9) What do you LOVE about the holidays?

Celebrating Jesus, family and friends. I love giving people things, too!!

(10) What annoys you about the holidays?

CROWDS!!!!!!

(11) Do you prefer star or angel on top of a Christmas tree? Or something else?

Always an angel.

(12) What is your family favorite recipe at Christmas?

My Mom's fudge.

(13) Are you a Grinch or a Who at Christmastime?

Totally a Who!!

(14) Christmas light displays - Love them or Hate them?

I love the ones that aren't all figurines. I like the ones where people have actually put a lot of time and energy into them.

(15) Santas at the mall - Fun times or Creepy?

Depends. Some are creepy and some are really, genuinely nice and good at being Santa. My kids do not like to go, though!

(16) Christmas cards - do you send them, yes or no?

Yes

(17) What is the best thing about Christmas, in your opinion?

Celebrating the miracle of Jesus, his birth and ultimately his death so that I may live!! He is an amazing King!! I am glad that I serve him!

(18) What is the worst thing about Christmas?

The whole materialism of Christmas. We could do with less of that!! It makes people crazy!

(19) When do you put the tree up and take it down?

Always around the beginning of December.

(20) Out of the 12 days of Christmas, which day and item would you want your truelove to give to you?

Five gold rings. My hubby would love for me to give him the 10 drummers drumming.

(21) Why do you think that Grandma got run over by a reindeer?

She'd been drinkin' too much eggnog.

(22) Who is your favorite reindeer?

Rudolph!!

(23) Do you believe in Santa Claus?

Sure.

(24) What is your favorite smell at Christmastime?

Mmmmm...apple spice!!

(25) What would make you happy at Christmas this year?

Just to take the time to really celebrate what this season is all about. To stop and pause and reflect on who Jesus is and who I am in him. That special time with God would be lovely!!

Choosing to Laugh!!

Motherhood lolcat Pictures, Images and Photos
I've had a rough day or two with Maggie. Then Emma was up most of the night last night. Sometimes, looking after 3 children, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Today I will choose laughter!! Enjoy!!

---------------------
"Mommy has no idea how to raise children," said the child to his father.

"How can you say such a thing?" replied the father.

"Well, Mommy always sends me to bed at night when I'm not sleepy, and wakes me up in the morning when I am."

Friday Fill-Ins: New Moon Rocked

team edward newmoon Pictures, Images and Photos
New Moon was excellent last night. So much better than Twilight was. Definitely a must see for those of you Twilight fans out there. (I've heard us called Twerds, but I really don't like that name!!)

Tonight I am off to see Kelly Clarkson. Should be a good concert and a long time coming.

Tomorrow is the Christmas Craft Fair. I love going there and looking around. I usually find something for someone on my list.

1. We need to all get into the Christmas spirit. It is only just over a month away. Let's do it people!!

2. I wore my "Team Edward" shirt, hung out with some youngins', made comments during the movie last night and it made me smile.

3. If you want I will gladly wrap all of your presents for you. It is my FAVORITE thing to do around Christmas time!! (Or any time for that matter!)

4. I cheer for Edward because he reminds me so much of Jonathan.

5. Massachusetts has a proposed 5% sales tax on elective cosmetic surgery; I think that is a step in the right direction. People need to learn to be happy with themselves and deal with their inner problems. The outer problems are only surface. The inner problems are way more dangerous and unhealthy!!

6. Spending time celebrating Jesus makes for a happy holiday.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to Kelly Clarkson, tomorrow my plans include going to the craft fair and to church and Sunday, I want to rest, go grocery shopping and to small group and then have a nice supper with the family!

Tuesday Tunes: Sober

Tonight is "Family Night". It is something we have just started. We do an activity, read the Bible and learn about God. We pray together, too. It is really neat and the kids really had a wonderful time doing it last week. So we will try again this coming week.

It is so windy here. I felt like I was going to be blown away by the wind walking to pick-up Aidan this morning. Crazy weather...and to think it is already the middle of November. This has been pretty mild for us. It can stay this way all winter. I won't mind!!

This week is very busy. I am going out on Thursday night to see "New Moon" with my sister. Westjet sold tickets to a preview of it. I can't wait.

Friday night Jen, my mom and I are going to the Kelly Clarkson concert...Finally! We had tickets from March last year. She was supposed to be here for Stampede, but her concert got postponed until now. It should be really good.

Saturday is the Community hall Craft fair. We are selling Girl Guide cookies at it. Aidan and Emma are coming, too. They both want to buy Mommy's Christmas present there. So...Granny will take them both shopping. I love the craft fair. It is fun!!

Since today is Tuesday Tunes, I thought I would share a Kelly Clarkson song. Here's one of my favorites of all time!! I love her so much because I feel like she has not bowed to the societal image we place on our pop stars. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!!

My favorite character on the Street!

Sesame-Street-Comments
Okay. After reading Tina's blog (Hot Kerfuffle - check it out), I decided that I definitely needed to write a bit more about Sesame Street. As a child of the 80s, I hit Sesame Street in its prime. I LOVED Bert and Ernie, Grover and Big Bird. But my absolute favorite character was Snuffleupagus. I always hoped he would be on every single time I watched. Here are a few clips that I love!!

Who was your favorite character? I would love to know!!

Tuesday Tunes 47: 40th Anniversary

I have a lot to write about the Infusion Conference I went to, but I will save that for another blog. Hopefully when I am feeling better. Right now the couch is calling. I will heed it. I did not sleep very well last night. I am exhausted.

Since it is the Sesame Street 40th anniversary, I thought I would share a couple of videos. I grew up watching Sesame Street. My kids also love to watch it. Thanks to Sesame Street we also have TreeHouse. This wouldn't have happened if not for that first show. (I also did a paper on Sesame Street for one of my classes in University!)

The first one is "Sing". I remember watching this one time when they had a flute player on. I fell in love with that instrument. It was the reason why I wanted to play the flute in junior high, which I did. Anyway, here is a montage of celebrities singing...

The other song I wanted to share was this one that is much newer. I used it for one of my home-made picture slideshows/videos. I just think it is so sweet and makes me cry everytime I hear it.

What are some of your favorite songs from this wonderful show? I would love you to share them with me. I will also try putting up some more classic Sesame Street as the month goes on!!

Friday Fill-ins: Infusion

Well, I am off to the Infusion Conference tonight and all day tomorrow. It is to help me be a better servant in the Children's Ministries at Promiseland and in the summers when I do VBS. You can always improve, right? So, off I will go tonight.

Other than that, I still have not gotten Emma a flu shot. Hopefully they will reopen the clinics for everyone and we will all go get one together. The lines were not very long at all today, so that is great news. Hopefully it will continue that way.

Went with Jenny to the funeral yesterday. It was sad as funerals always are. It really reminds you that life is short and death is inevitable. Kinda puts things into perspective.

It's Friday!! Thank goodness!!

1. Plans and schedules are things that I LOVE. I cannot do without them. I love to be organized!

2. I'm happy when things go according to plan. I get a bit stressed out when things happen, and not in the way I had hoped. (Gee, I wonder where Aidan gets that from. LOL!!)

3. The last thing I drank was a coke. I love coke. I can't help it!

4. One of the most valuable things in my life is my family. I don't know where I would be without them. They are all precious to me and blessings from God. I hope that I convey that to them everyday!

5. I like ham and pineapple on my pizza. I don't get it on my pizza too often, though. No one else in the family really likes Hawaiian.

6. Dear November, please go by quickly so we can start decorating for Christmas. It is my favorite season, after all!! I can't wait for it to be here!!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to a conference, tomorrow my plans include going to a conference and then picking up my parents from the airport and Sunday, I want to grocery shop, go to small group and then have a wonderful family supper!

Friday Fill-in: H1N1 Strikes Too Close To Home

It is an unsettling morning around here. My sister had a friend who came down with H1N1 on Monday. He was hospitalized and went into a coma. He passed away yesterday morning. He was only 23. Jenny had just gone with him (and some of his friends) to P.E.I. It is one thing when you hear about "other" people dying from this thing, but to hear of it from someone so close. I think that is the scary part.

We are supposed to go to a Fall Festival at WestJet today. We'll see if she is up to it or not. Poor girl! I feel so bad.

In any case, I am keeping Aidan home one more day. He is on the mend, but I would rather keep him home until he is 100% (or at least closer to it than he is now). They are only doing some fun Halloween stuff in class today. Plus, I let him go to the Girl Guide Halloween Party last night. (I had promised him for weeks now!) Anyway, we were out late. Better to let everyone sleep in, especially since I do not have Maggie today!

I am wondering if people will not be letting their kids go out trick-or-treating because of the outbreak of H1N1....I am wondering a lot of things, like should we all get the shot?? I am thinking yes, especially after Jenny's friend. I think we should all get it, even Jonathan who hates getting any shots. But since we are around the lungless wonder (aka my Dad) alot, we should all do our part to keep him healthy. He is at risk because of his lung shortage!!

Speaking of which, he is going to Toronto next week for his 6 month check-up. He already saw the cancer dude here, who said he was doing just great. So, we don't expect too much. But, keep him in your prayers, all the same.

Now, on to something a bit lighter than the above. (What a downer I am...Aren't you glad you stopped by??)

ffi
1. It was a dark and stormy night, but I was not worried since I was nice and warm with a book, blanket and cup of warm hot chocolate. I love hot chocolate and have finally started drinking some more since it is fall. I also love hot apple cider. I am currently out, though. Need to put it on the grocery list.

2. Someone didn't want the books they got for Christmas so I offered to take the books myself. I love books. I just wish I had more places for them to rest, instead of in boxes (about 20 to be exact) in the basement.

3. Rushing out, I realized I did not have a diaper for Emma and hoped she wouldn't poop. At least that is what I thought last night while driving away from the house to the Halloween party. Sometimes it is so crazy to get from one place to the next.

4. Shhh...I think I heard a howl!... No that was just Emma saying "Mama, mama, mama, I wanna get up!"

5. Shhhh... Ahhh, silence. No little ones right now. All are still in bed. Lovely!!

6. Please give me something good to eat! I haven't had breakfast yet this morning. My stomach is starting to rumble.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing with the hubby and kiddos (perhaps watching some Boomtown (season one) which I found in a clearance bin at the SuperStore), tomorrow my plans include shopping for a stroller and Trick-or- Treating with the kids at Granny and Grandpa's (Jonathan is on worship team) and Sunday, I want to take my parents to the airport (and have breaky with them), grocery shop, and have my sister join us for supper!

Happy Halloween to all my Blogging friends!!

Sorry...Again!!

I have been meaning to blog for a few days now, but look, almost 3 days are gone since my last posting. I am not doing so good on the blogging thing lately.
Maggie has been taking up all my time today. She is not quite herself today and is getting into everything. Aidan is home sick today, as he was on Monday. It is just a cold. I will watch to make sure it does not get worse. Supposedly there is a 10% absenteeism at most Calgary schools right now. H1N1 has hospitalized some 200 people in our region. People are being extra cautious right now. I always just keep a sick kid home!!

Line-ups to get the vaccine are 3+hours long. I was thinking about getting my kids and I one, but I am not going to make them stand in line for that long. Temper-tantrums would ensue. Perhaps in a week or so when everyone is less anxious.

Other than that, life marches on. Seems like I am doing a steady run most days...On a treadmill...With no emergency stop button. (Sigh!) Why do I do this again? Sometimes I need reminders....

Built from clay and breath of God
This is who you are
Made to house eternal love
This is who you are
Matter and spirit combined
This is who you are
Temple for the Lord Most High
This is who you are

Echo of creation’s song
This is who you are
Remnant of the Chosen Ones
This is who you are
Ember of a holy fire
This is who you are
Object of the King’s desire
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are
Heaven sings this song to you…
This is who you are

Little lamb who wanders off
This is who you are
One the Shepherd won’t leave lost
This is who you are
Rescued by His sacrifice
This is who you are
Now the hands and feet of Christ
This is who you are

Who you are, who you are…

Hear the Father call your name
Shine with His eternal flame
Bear His image in your soul
This is who you are
Listen ‘til you finally know
This is who you are

Our Escape....

The Three Sisters - Tower above Canmore
Sorry I have been on blogging hiatus for awhile. I needed a little break. Plus, I have been so busy with walking people to and from school...Seriously, it takes a lot out of you!!

Our weekend away was great. It was exactly what I needed and what the doctor ordered. We got a really good deal on a King Suite at the Pocaterra Inn Best Western in Canmore (click here). It was lovely. We had a fire place, a little kitchen place (with a sink and a small stereo). We had a jacuzzi and bath robes. All in all it was a great room.
Views from our hotel window...Why we go there!!
We walked around Banff and stopped at our usual stores. Of course the candy store. They have tons of candy and lots in bulk. I always get coke bottles. I love coke bottles. And the Christmas store. And the toy store. Those are the major places we need to go while in Banff.

On Saturday night we went out for supper to the restaurant we always go to: The Grizzly House (click here). (Tina- you would love this place!!) I was going to take some pictures, but decided against it because we were surrounded by grease. The Grizzly House is a fondue restaurant. It really is an eating experience, not just a restaurant. You get a nice 4 course meal. We had soup, cheese and bread fondue, then your main course, then Toblerone chocolate fondue with fruit and cookies. It was divine. I had the wonderful Hunter Fondue with Buffalo meat, Venison and Wild Boar. It is so yummy. Jonathan had the Beef and Lobster Fondue. You have the option of using hot rocks (600 F) or oil. We usually get both. Anyway, the whole "experience" takes about 2 hours or so. Make reservations early, too! They book up quick!

Anyway, the food is good. The decor is...woody. Lots of wood paneling, shelves made out of tree branches and trunks (finished, but still tree branches). Each table has a phone that you can call other tables with. Jonathan did the obligatory phone call from the bathroom. He hung up before I could say anything because it didn't ring on his end. Meanwhile, a girl at a table opposite to us, saw me hang up and then dialed my number. I picked up expecting it to be Jonathan. Which is what she said to me when I answered. It was funny!! She continued to call other tables all night long!!

It used to be a disco, back in the day. So the dance floor can get a bit slippery with all that oil. Anyway, they used to get food from the Chinese restaurant next door. (Yes, through a hole in the wall!!) When that place closed down, they brought in the fondue pots and a new place was born. It really is worth a visit, if you are ever in Banff. It is right on Banff avenue, so you can't miss it!!

We made it home safe and sound on Sunday afternoon. The only problem with these weekends away is that they just go by too quickly...

A Rare Photo of Jonathan...driving home through construction!

Tuesday Tunes 46: Out of My League

Photobucket
Well, that was Thanksgiving...Just in case anyone missed it. Or is thinking it might have been Christmas since we woke up to snow this morning. Traffic is bad. Maggie was half an hour late being dropped off. Jonathan left early for work....People have forgotten how to drive on winter roads. It happens every year!!

Our Thanksgiving was just fine. We had it at my parents' house. We put the kids to bed and played some games. It was fun.

Aidan still has one more day off. Since we went back to school so early this year, they have given us a few extra days off throughout the year. This is one of those days. It is nice. I do not want to walk in the snow. Plus, the kids do not have winter boots. I am afraid that I won't be able to find any, either....

I thought I would share a song that I love right now. It is a Stephen Speaks song. I hope you enjoy!!

Tuesday Tunes 45: Soundtracks

Photobucket
Clare over at The Lilac Grove was talking about favorite soundtracks. Since today is Tuesday, I thought that would be the perfect topic for my blog today.

I am sure most of us have a favorite soundtrack. I have several, but I will try and keep it down to 2.

When I was growing up, there were 2 movies that I just absolutely LOVED!! I would watch them over and over again. (There were a lot of those, actually, but these ones stand out!!)

The first is Top Gun. I loved that movie and still do! I finally bought my own copy for my home. Back when Tom Cruise wasn't so weird...You remember those days. And before Anthony Edwards was a famous Doctor on ER. He was just Goose!! Anyway, here's one of my faves from that soundtrack!!

The other movie I thought of right away was Dirty Dancing. I love that movie. Ahhh...Patrick Swayze..."Nobody puts Baby in a corner!" Yes, that movie totally rocked. Anyway, here is a sample song from that movie!!

So what are some of your favorite movie soundtracks? I'd love to know. Leave me a link to a video and I will check it out!!

Priorities, Priorities!!

It is that time of the day. The house is quiet. The kids are "resting" and I am just about finished my lunch. I have checked out all of the blogs, Facebook, Tweets and email. I have cleaned up after lunch. Now?? What should I do??

Well, this weekend I was reminded that I have this precious couple of hours to spend with God. The kids are quiet and not interrupting me. Also, if I spend time with God right now, then I do not feel guilty for not getting up at 6am to spend that time with Him. He doesn't care when I do it, just that I do it!! It sounds like a perfect plan. A perfect solution to my nagging spirit that is in need of some Abba time!!

So, the question remains...Why haven't I been doing it? Why do I find it so easy to spend my time on things that are here today and gone tomorrow? What is the point?

I have no good excuses. Just excuses. No real reasons. I mean, there are times when I need to do some Girl Guide stuff. (Excuses) Sometimes I need to email people. (Excuses) Sometimes I feel like I must write something on my heart so others can read and hear and understand. (Excuses)

The point is: I have no good reason for not doing it. So starting today I am going to be doing some quiet time with God at my regular scheduled computer time. I will still be online, but not for as much time as I would normally be on.

My prayer for you all is to find that few minutes in your day (I am sure you have some) where you can spend time with God. That you would look past all your excuses and find that time!! That is my prayer for you and my prayer for me!! Let's do this together!!

Kidlet Update

Yes, it is that time again...Time for another episode of "Aidan and Emma's Update"!! The blog-isode that you just can't miss...especially if you are a grandparent or an aunt!!

Emma:
Well, she is addicted to watching "The Letter Factory" by Leap Frog. She LOVES it and wants to watch at least once a day. I don't mind because she is really beginning to learn her letters. That video is amazing!! I should be a sales rep for it since I always plug how good it is. It really is amazing.

She is also really beginning to pick-up the songs from Promiseland. She is now in the Little Lambs room (2 year olds) and they do a story, some songs and a craft. She comes home singing them, which is soooo cute. (Especially when she sings "hawewuya"...It is too adorable!)
She has my personality for the most part. She is not as high strung as I can be (enter Aidan) but she is very stubborn and wants everything done her way. She walks to the beat of a different drum, too, which is really cute to watch. I am thinking that she is a good mixture of both Mommy and Daddy (musically speaking), since she has perfect rhythm (enter Jonathan) and she LOVES to sing, too.

She has started to play on the computer while sitting on Mommy's lap. Yes, at 2 1/2. That's about the age Aidan started, too. What a different generation than even my generation. I learned how to use computers in elementary school playing on those really old Apple IIe computers...With floppy disks...

Aidan:
Well, Aidan is into science right now. Anything to do with weather, space, tornadoes, volcanoes...He loves figuring out how things work and learning new things. He loves learning. (I predict either a career in education or performing!)

Yes, he is our little performer. Give him an audience and there is no stopping him. I mean, he blabbers on about things that don't make any sense, but to him it all makes perfect sense.

He is LOVING Kindergarten right now. He has made some good friends, especially Ashley. He likes the fact that he has to be so independent. (And that there are no bullies in his class like last year!!)

He has been an excellent helper for Mommy. He's been helping out with Maggie and Emma when Mommy gets a bit busy. He likes it, I think because it makes him feel all grown up. I like it, too. It shows how mature he is.

We had his Parent Teacher interview last week and the teacher praised him about how wonderful he was. (Of course she did ask about his temper...We all know that about Aidan!! I wonder where he gets that from....) Anyway, he is doing so well so far.
------------------

I am blessed to have such good children. I mean, I know they have their moments. Even I have mine!! But overall they are great children and I should be so thankful for them being in my life. What a gift from God!! What an awesome responsibility.

Now if only I could pass over the teenage years....
